Within this cinematic backdrop, Cinema Onomichi stands proudly as the sole movie theater in Onomichi City.
The cinema resides within a building with a history dating back to 1949, and in October 2008, it was opened through the support of the community, raising 27 million yen in citizen donations. Celebrating its 15th year of operation in 2023, the cinema serves as a platform for interaction between citizens and filmmakers, fostering a deep appreciation for the art of cinema.
Aside from regular film screenings, Cinema Onomichi actively engages with the local community, particularly the younger generation, through the organization of film workshops. These workshops aim to educate children about their emotions and enrich their understanding of the world through the lens of film.
